Global Payments Modernization

Situation:

Hertz's legacy payments ecosystem was fragmented, inefficient, and posed compliance and security risks, despite the fact that it was moving $8B annually.

Task:

As the Technology VP and Product Owner for Payments, my objective was to consolidate and modernize the payments platform to reduce PCI exposure, improve transaction efficiency, security, scalability and offer better features to our customers.

Action:

Led a global transformation program, consolidating 12+ legacy systems into one modern platform, working with strategic partners (Stripe, Apple, TCS) to simplify the ecosystem and expedite speed to market of new features, to significantly modernize a platform capable of processing ~$8B annually safely and efficiently.

Results:

Improved authorization rates between 1-5%, minimized PCI compliance exposure, reduced transaction downgrades by 2% and enabled a modern, scalable payments operation that became the first major rental car company in the US to offer ApplePay.

 

Vendor Strategy Optimization

Situation:

External technology service partners lacked accountability, with high costs and inconsistent performance.

Task:

Technology VP and Product Owner, my goal was to redesign vendor strategy to re-balance the team structure, reduce vendor dependancy, minimize spend and improve service outcomes.

Action:

Collaborated with strategic partners (IBM, Deloitte, TCS) to restructure operating models, redefined SLAs/KPIs, and improved team composition across onshore/offshore models. Hired internal technology leaders for multiple products and platforms.

Results:

Re-balanced the FTE/vendor ratio to greatly reduce risks for the organization associated to vendor dependency. Achieved 30% cost savings and significantly improved vendor accountability and delivery performance.

 

Cloud Platform Modernization

Situation:

Outdated and disjointed on-premise ERP, EPM, and HCM systems hindered agility, created high manual overhead and prevented deep system integration.

Task:

As the Technology VP and Product Owner for ERP, EPM and HCM, my objective was to execute a major cloud migration strategy and corporate applications modernization, to increase efficiency and support digital transformation.

Action:

Led full-scale cloud transformation initiatives across ERP, EPM, Procurement and HCM systems, replacing legacy tech with integrated Oracle Cloud solutions. Managed the relationship with the strategic partners (Deloitte and Oracle) supporting the implementation. Oversaw the change management and corporate communications for the program.

Results:

Successfully completed the migration and implemented the new platform and products in a year, on time, on budget and within scope. Reduced manual work, enhanced agility, and delivered over $5M in recurring annual financial benefits.

 

RPA/IPA Scaling

Situation:

Manual processes across corporate functions led to inefficiencies, high costs, slow response time and limited scalability.

Task:

As the Technology VP and Product Owner for RPA, my objective was to work with internal business partners to encourage adoption and deploy digital automation, that improves productivity and reduces operational costs.

Action:

Partnered with our service provider (Automation Anywhere) and business unit leads to scale digital process automation from <10 bots to over 100 digital workers in under 18 months, integrating RPA and IPA solutions across core processes, while maximizing ROI for the organization.

Results:

Defined the governance process for RPA/IPA initiatives, and delivered $5M+ in annual cost savings, improved process speed, and reduced errors across multiple business units.
